Create a professional payslip without starting from a spreadsheet
A payslip (or salary slip) records what an employee earned for a pay period, the deductions entered for that period, and the resulting net pay. Kavit is designed for small businesses that need a clean one-employee payslip quickly: enter the details, watch the A4 document update live, check the totals, and download the finished PDF.
What can you include on the payslip?
- Company name, address, contact details and optional logo
- Employee name, ID, designation and department
- Salary month and optional attendance / LOP summary
- Earnings such as Basic, HRA, allowances, overtime and bonus
- Deductions entered by you, including custom deduction rows
- Gross earnings, total deductions, net pay and amount in words
How to create a salary slip in Kavit
- Add the company and employee details.
- Choose the salary month and, if useful, attendance figures.
- Use Quick mode or switch to Advanced for detailed components.
- Review the live A4 preview and the quality-check messages.
- Download PDF, print the payslip, or export the figures as CSV.
Quick mode vs Advanced mode
Quick mode is useful when you already know the employee's total salary, overtime or extra earnings, bonus and deductions. Advanced mode is for a more detailed salary structure: you can use Basic, HRA, special allowance, overtime, bonus and deduction lines, then add, remove or reorder custom components. Kavit totals the values you enter; it does not invent a salary structure for you.
How earnings, deductions and net pay are calculated
The calculation is intentionally transparent. Gross earnings are the sum of the earning rows. Total deductions are the sum of the deduction rows. Net pay is gross earnings minus total deductions, with the result shown both as an amount and in Indian number words. The quality checker also flags obvious completeness or arithmetic issues before you share the slip.
Attendance, payroll days and LOP on a payslip
The attendance strip is optional. If you use it, Payroll days means the number of days in the payroll basis for that salary period; Present, Paid Leave and LOP can then provide context for how the month was handled. Different organisations use different payroll bases, so Kavit does not assume that calendar days, 30 days, 26 days or working days are universally correct. If you first need to work out LOP or payable salary, use the Attendance Salary Calculator.
PF, ESI, professional tax and TDS are manual here
This free generator is a document and arithmetic tool, not a statutory payroll engine. PF, ESI, professional tax, TDS and similar deductions are manual amount fields. Enter only the amounts that apply to your organisation and employee under your payroll process and applicable requirements. Kavit does not decide whether a statutory deduction is required or calculate the legally applicable rate on this page.
Privacy: payroll data stays in your browser
The employee details, salary figures and company logo used in this generator are processed in the browser for the tool's live preview and exports; the generator does not send those entered payroll details to Kavit's server. This makes it suitable for creating an individual payslip without first creating an account. As with any payroll document, review the finished PDF before sharing it with the employee.
Common questions
Is the Kavit payslip generator free?
Yes. The generator can be used without signing up. You can create the payslip, preview it, and download or print the result.
Can I add my company logo?
Yes. PNG, JPG and WebP logos up to 2 MB are accepted. The logo is prepared locally in the browser for the preview and PDF.
Can I create custom earnings and deductions?
Yes. Switch to Advanced mode to add, rename, remove and reorder earning or deduction rows.
Does Kavit automatically calculate PF, ESI, PT or TDS?
No. Those are manual amount fields in this free generator. This avoids presenting a generic statutory calculation as though it necessarily applies to every employee or business.
What is the difference between this tool and the Attendance Salary Calculator?
The Attendance Salary Calculator helps estimate payable salary from a salary basis, leave, LOP and overtime. This tool creates the finished payslip document from the salary and deduction amounts you enter.
